Like the kitten stamp, the "Love Puppy" was designed by Ethel Kessler with original art by Chris Buzelli. The decision to feature a kitten and a puppy in the 2023 "Love" series was a nod to America's deep affection for its pets. The first-day-of-issue ceremony in Austin, Texas, underscored the connection between these stamps and the importance of animal welfare and adoption.
