This stamp captures the imposing yet ultimately heroic figure of IG-11, a droid introduced in the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. Initially a member of the Bounty Hunters' Guild programmed to eliminate "the asset" known as Grogu, IG-11 was later reprogrammed by the Ugnaught Kuiil to serve as a nursemaid and protector. This narrative arc, from a cold, calculating assassin to a self-sacrificing guardian, resonated deeply with audiences. The stamp's design, with IG-11 set against a backdrop reminiscent of the volcanic planet Nevarro, highlights his formidable presence and the rugged environment where his destiny was forged. The issuance of this stamp as part of the 2021 Star Wars Droids set underscores the continued expansion of the Star Wars universe and the introduction of new, complex droid characters.
