BB-8 quickly became a fan favorite upon his debut in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. His unique design, a spherical body with a free-moving domed head, was a triumph of practical effects and a fresh take on the astromech concept. BB-8 is fiercely loyal to Poe Dameron and plays a crucial role in the sequel trilogy, carrying a map that leads to the missing Luke Skywalker. His personality is often described as being like an enthusiastic and curious puppy, a stark contrast to the more cantankerous R2-D2. The stamp's design, with BB-8 against a backdrop reminiscent of the desert planet Jakku, captures the moment the world was introduced to this new and beloved droid.
