The quill in Haym Salomon's hand animates, making writing motions on the ledger before him. Gold coins on the table subtly glint and shimmer. The papers on the desk rustle as if a light breeze has passed through the room.
Body

The third stamp in the "Contributors to the Cause" series, Scott #1561, issued in Chicago, Illinois, recognizes the vital role of Haym Salomon. A successful broker and merchant, Salomon was a fervent patriot who used his financial acumen and personal wealth to support the American cause. He was instrumental in securing loans from France and the Netherlands and often extended interest-free personal loans to members of the Continental Congress, including James Madison. Salomon's financial interventions at critical moments, such as before the decisive Battle of Yorktown, were crucial to the success of the Revolution. He died penniless, having sacrificed his fortune for the cause of American liberty.
